“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”--Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (ESV)

What Kind of Parent Are You?
by Julie Lowe,
Licensed Professional Counselor
Christian Counseling and Education Foundation
Parenting today comes with a flood of labels—helicopter, tiger, free-range, attachment, and more. Behind these terms lies a deeper question: Are we shaping our parenting by cultural trends, by fear of criticism, or by our own needs and desires? True Christian parenting isn’t about fitting a mold but about seeking God’s wisdom. The Bible doesn’t give us a one-size-fits-all method; it calls us to pray, discern, and apply timeless truth to each child with love and faithfulness. Our aim is not worldly success, but godly wisdom that trusts God with the outcome.
Breaking the Cycle of Absent Fathers

The choices of a father ripple across generations. An absent dad leaves wounds that can shape children and grandchildren, while a present father offers stability, faith, and love that build a lasting legacy. The cycle of brokenness does not have to continue. By God’s grace, men can choose a new story—one marked by presence, discipleship, and faithfulness. The call is not perfection, but commitment: to love our children, seek wisdom from God, and trust Him with the future.

What is Family Worship
Who Is Joel Beeke?
Joel R. Beeke (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is a pastor, theologian, and writer known for his passion to recover and apply the riches of the Puritan tradition for today’s church and family life. He serves as president and professor of systematic theology and homiletics at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has authored or co-authored over 100 books.
Beeke is especially known for his teaching on family worship—the daily practice of reading Scripture, praying, and singing together in the home. He argues that godly homes are the foundation of strong churches and societies, echoing the Puritan conviction that the household is a “little church.” Through his preaching, writing, and mentorship, he has helped countless Christians rediscover the beauty of worshiping God as a family.
Joel Beeke on Family Worship

“As goes the home, so goes the church, so goes the nation. Family worship is not optional; it is essential.”

“Family worship is a means of grace whereby God plants seeds of truth in the hearts of children, waters them by His Spirit, and brings them to fruition in His time.”
“Read the Bible, explain it simply, apply it warmly, sing with joy, and pray with sincerity. Do this daily and faithfully. Over time, you will see God’s blessing.”
“The family that worships together daily will find that their home becomes a little church, where Christ is present and honored.”
