A Vision for a Bible-Centered, Christ-Exalting Community
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom…" (Colossians 3:16)
When I imagine the kind of church I long to be part of, my heart is stirred with a simple, yet profound vision: a covenant community where the Word of God is not a "side dish," but the "main feast." I envision a people among whom dwelling in Scripture is not an occasion, but a rather ordinary day. I envision a church where conversations naturally spring from the well of God's truth, and where Christ is at the center of our daily lives.
A Church That Reads Together
First and foremost, I dream of a church that reads the Bible together, not merely as isolated individuals, but side by side, as a family gathered around a dining table. I envision small groups, living rooms, coffee shops, and sanctuaries filled with the gentle rustle of open Bibles, the warm hum of voices reading God's promises aloud. Here, Scripture isn't reserved for Sunday sermons only; it becomes our shared language, our familiar song, our mutual anchor. Wouldn't that be great?
A Church That Converses in the Word
Beyond reading, I yearn for a church that shares, guided by the Bible. I envision our conversations seasoned with Scripture, naturally and joyfully. Let's work together so we are not afraid to wrestle with difficult passages. People should not be scared to ask hard questions. Let's seek understanding in humility and love.
Let's pray together and work so that encouragement, correction, wisdom, and hope would flow directly from the pages of God's Word into our daily interactions.
A Church That is Christ-Centered and Gospel-Driven
I also envision a church where every act of reading, every conversation, every prayer, and every gathering points to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A church that knows the Bible isn't just a book of rules or a collection of wise sayings — it is the unfolding drama of God's redemptive love, culminating in Christ's life, death, resurrection, and glorious reign.
In this Gospel-driven community, grace would reign over shame. Repentance would be met with forgiveness. Joy would hold us together even in sorrow because Christ is our hope in all circumstances. The Cross of Calvary would shape our humility, and the resurrection would fuel our courage.
Building This Vision Together
This kind of church doesn't happen accidentally. It happens intentionally — by daily planting ourselves in the Word, by leaning into community with vulnerability and faith, and by committing to keep Christ at the center. It requires patience, gentleness, and a willingness to be shaped together by the Spirit of God through the Word of God.
I pray for such a community. I long to help build it. I believe it is possible because Christ Himself has promised to be among us. He who has begun the good work in us will complete it!
May the Word of Christ richly dwell among us — for His glory, for our joy, and the hope of the world.
